Alerts in the office console
The console can alert you, on a computer or a phone, when something on a job needs the office. Alerts are turned on separately on each computer, browser and installed app.
What you’re alerted about
- Off-site clock-ins: a crew member clocks in or switches jobs away from every site they’re on today, or with their location blocked. The alert goes to the job’s manager. With no job, it goes to the managers of their jobs that day; with no manager at all, to every Admin.
- Long shifts: someone has been clocked in a long time. The job’s manager (or the Admins) hears at the first reminder.
- Team chat: messages in your channels, @mentions and replies, as in the field app.
Set a job’s manager on the Jobs page.
Turn them on
- For the best results, install the console and open the installed app.
- Open Settings.
- Under Alerts on this device, click Turn on alerts.
- When the browser asks, click Allow.
It then says Alerts are on in this browser. Do the same on each computer or phone you want alerts on.
On iPhone and iPad, alerts work only in the console installed on your Home Screen. In Safari, the page tells you to add it first.
If you use both apps on one phone, turn alerts on in just one of them, or you’ll get each alert twice.
If alerts don’t turn on
- Nothing happens after Turn on alerts: look for a bell, or a crossed-out bell, at the right end of the address bar. Click it and choose Allow, then click Turn on alerts again. Edge often asks this way in a plain tab; the installed app asks normally.
- “This browser blocks alerts from this site”: click the icon at the left of the address bar, open Permissions for this site (Edge) or Site settings (Chrome), set Notifications to Allow, and reload. On Windows, also check Settings > System > Notifications: notifications on, and on for the browser.
- “This browser can’t show alerts”: use Chrome, Edge or Safari.
