Team chat
When your company uses team chat, the app has a Chat tab. A number on it counts unread messages in your channels.
Channels
- Job crews: each job you’re on has its own channel, with its crew in it. When the job is finished, its channel drops off your list.
- Company: channels your company’s Admins set up, for everyone or for chosen people.
Each channel shows how many messages are new and when the last one came in. Tap one to open it. Crew chat on Today opens the job’s channel too.
Send a message
Type in Message and tap Send. The newest messages are at the bottom; scroll up for earlier ones.
- @mention someone: tap @, then tap a name. They’re notified even if they’ve muted the channel.
- Photos: tap Photo, then Take a photo or Choose from library. You can send up to 10 at a time. Tap a photo in the channel to see it full size.
- No signal? Send anyway. The message shows Waiting to send until it goes.
Reply to a message
Tap Reply under a message (or press and hold it, then tap Reply). A “Replying to” bar shows above the box; tap ✕ to cancel. Your reply shows a quote of the original. Tap the quote to jump to it. The person you replied to is notified.
Edit your message
Tap your own message (it says Tap to edit), or press and hold it and tap Edit message. Change it and tap Save. Everyone in the channel sees that it was edited.
Mute a channel
Open the channel and tap Mute at the top. A muted channel doesn’t send you notifications or count on the Chat tab, except when someone @mentions you or replies to you. Tap Unmute to undo it.
Hidden messages
An Admin can hide a message that shouldn’t be there. It keeps its place, shown as Message hidden by an admin, and replies that quoted it show Message removed.
“Read only”
Office staff can read some job channels without being on the job. Those show Read only.
