Install on iPhone and iPad

On iPhone and iPad, you add GumbyOps to your Home Screen from Safari, or from Chrome on iOS 16.4 or later. Notifications from either app work only from the Home Screen app, on iOS 16.4 or later.

Which address: crew open ops.gumbyworks.com/field. Office staff open ops.gumbyworks.com. Which app do you need?

Crew: sign in in Safari first

If your office texted you an invite link, open it, sign in with your phone number and accept the invite before you add the app. Safari and the Home Screen app keep separate sign-ins, so an invite opened in the Home Screen app is lost. After you add the app, open it from your Home Screen and sign in once more with the same number. Nothing else is asked.

In Safari

  1. Open the address in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button . It’s in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen on iPhone, or at the top on iPad. If your toolbar shows only the address and a More button , tap More first, then Share.
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. If you see Open as Web App, leave it turned on.
  5. Tap Add.

In Safari: Share, then Add to Home Screen, then Add.

The field app shows these steps too, the first time you open it in Safari.

In Chrome (iOS 16.4 or later)

  1. Open the address in Chrome.
  2. Tap the Share button to the right of the address bar.
  3. Tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Check the name, then tap Add.

Open it

Find the new icon on your Home Screen: GumbyOps for the field app, GumbyOps Office for the office console. Tap it. From now on, always open it from that icon, not from a link or a bookmark.

Office console: in the Home Screen app, sign in with Phone and your mobile number. An email sign-in link would open in Safari, not in the app.

Turn on notifications

Field app: after you tap I agree on the location screen, the Home Screen app asks to send notifications. Tap Allow. If you skipped it, open the Me tab and tap Turn on notifications under Notifications.

If the Me tab says notifications are blocked, open the iPhone Settings app, tap Notifications, tap GumbyOps, and turn on Allow Notifications.

Office console: open Settings in the console, then tap Turn on alerts under Alerts on this device, and tap Allow. In Safari (not the Home Screen app), the console says alerts work only from the Home Screen.

How to tell you’re in the installed app

The app fills the screen, with no Safari address bar or toolbar. If you see the address bar, or the field app shows “Add GumbyOps to your Home Screen”, you’re in the browser: close it and tap the Home Screen icon.

Remove it

Touch and hold the icon on your Home Screen until a menu appears, then choose the option to remove or delete it, and confirm. The wording depends on your iOS version. Removing the app deletes its sign-in on this device; your time, notes and photos stay with your company.
